"A Dungeon Emergence," Bandle chimes in, her voice a little shaky as she adjusts her glasses. "That's what they call when a new entrance to the Dungeon appears above ground. They're often accompanied by quakes, or avalanches, or sudden migrations of local wildlife."
Rhogar nods his agreement and motions vaguely into the darkness beyond your camp. "Could be something out there. I'm going to check on the others, make sure everyone's okay, and then see about a quick patrol to make sure nothing's lurking about. Sometimes critters will spill out of an Emergence, sometimes they keep inside, but it's best to be sure. You're welcome to take a look, or wait until morning - if it is an Emergence, could mean a chance to make a few extra coins before we get to the next town."

I think Callisssta would be visibly excited about that despite herself. She rummages through her inventory, double checking whether she's even prepared to go and investigate.
"An entrance appearing so close to the resting caravan- it would be dangerous -not- to investigate."
Sssso... We're -new-. But everyone else is napping or spooked. Thisss sounds like an opportunity to- what is the phrase- 'Cut our Teeth.' Do we check it out?

Orion is definitely excited, because they could be the first ones to make headway on this dungeon, and chart the way for other people. But if there's something unique and we get lucky, we might be the first to find it, y'know? So yeah, Orion is going to shake his head excitedly.
"I'm totally down for getting ourselves up and going, if the caravan is fine. Just, y'know, a quick check to let them know we're going, then we can go. I'm not going to be able to go to sleep now, knowing it might be a new dungeon with strong things to beat up."

Hai, Rin is definitely excited at the thought of an entrance to the dungeon so soon. "I say we go. Like Callista said, there's not that many in our easy position to go take a look." She'll start checking her things, making sure she has everything they would need. "After we make sure everything's okay here, I guess we just start circling around?"

Meison will also be totally ready to go. He’ll do his big tough guy stance and nod to the others. *Again, Mei mimes the actions.* “Let’s go check it out. If there’s anything coming out of the entrance we can stop it before it gets to the caravan.”

Excellent! With the party deciding to investigate, it's important to determine who has darkvision and who will need to carry torches. Rhogar will provide the torches and advise you to keep the caravan in sight while you range - they will be sure that there are lanterns hanging from the outer wagons of the encampment to ensure they are visible in the dark.
Beyond the camp, the land gently rolls, broken up by occasional outcroppings and small bluffs with scattered trees. We'll see what everyone is able to make out in a moment.

Sssso... Callista'ss species are basically touristss. The astral Sea is dark and starry, with very dark and very bright places. I think ssshe would have darkvision, and torches are definitely a new thing. She'll follow along with the others- making sure they're armed with every advantage they need.

I'm a cat, I probably have darkvision, right? I mean, I can see in the dark fairly well, I imagine my super cool warrior can too. I mean, not pitch black, y'know, but he'd definitely have a good advantage when it comes to that-- the light from the torch would be enough to reflect off the back of the eyes and see further or whatever. All that said though, it doesn't make sense to not take a light if offered, because you never know what might be out there and if you'll need it for something, y'know? It'll probably be a little hard to fight with a lantern if it comes down to it, but Meison will take one at least for exploration.
Keeping Rhogar's words in mind, Orion will start checking around the area with the light. He's got meat on him, he can kind of take point, right?

It's funny, there's probably an argument to be made that we all have night- er, darkvision. But hai, we should probably have one or two torches for emergencies, or just to make out details better. Rin would probably be further back in the group, despite her eagerness. She needs time to react if something attacks them.

Yeah, they probably all do. Opossums can see really well in the dark. But yeah, if there’s lanterns, Meison will take one and attach it to the front of his shield. Not real tight, just looping the rope over the top point so he can quickly take it off. He’ll join Orion in the front. Two beefy types, shoulder to shoulder, ready to bust some heads.

That makes perfect sense to me. So, Orion and Meison take the lead with lanterns raised while Rin acts as rearguard, Callista in the center. While your collective vision allows you to see further in the dark without the light, the light helps to illuminate potential dangers around you. As you move out into the land beyond the camp, making a wide circle around the caravan, you don’t see anything at first - up until a casual glance to your right, Callista, picks up a pair of flicking lights in the dark distance.
Lights that appear, after you focus on them for a moment, to be peering out within the dark sockets of an enormous skull, glaring out of the hillside about a half mile distant, its jaws gaping wide.

"That doesn't look normal." Callissta iss far too cassual in her observation, just pointing it out and blurting quietly from the back of the group.
And why not, sshe iss a tourist. She begins immediately gravitating toward it, paying no mind to marching order or self preservation. That makess ssense.

"Hm?" Orion looked back to his friend. If that's how Callista is, he'd be used to her being a bit too casual, but just starting to walk over to it is a bit much, y'know?
"Woah, hold up," Orion will say as he pulls out his weapon and quickly goes to her side, lantern hand out. At half a mile it didn't pose any immediate danger, so it was just instinct to almost block Calli from walking into bushes or whatever.
"Alright, I think we've got our dungeon opening, guys. Either that or a huge problem." He starts walking towards it with Calli-- whatever it was needed to be checked out, because if it was a huge monster, the caravan needed to know ASAP, y'know?

Once attention was drawn to it, Rin would perk up. "What is that?" She wouldn't move ahead of the boys, but she would definitely angle to try to look at it better. "It could not have gotten that far, so the entrance must be nearby at least."

Meison hurries over to regain the lead as they approach the skull. He says, “keep your guard up, don’t know what might rush out at us if that’s the opening.”
