In the town of Erin, in the lupine nation of Allemance, every child dreams of one day becoming a Delver - those tradespeople who seek out Dungeon entrances to explore, map, and return with riches in hand. To live life on the road, riding an elaborate, magical wagon from one place to the next, living to see what lies beyond the next horizon. To be a Delver is to be an explorer and an adventurer, a soul free from the constraints of the mundane - and whether you were one of such children, a day dreaming adult, or a visitor with hopes of your own, to become a Delver has long been your dream as well.
The arrival of Bandle the Sloth’s caravan represented the opportunity you have long waited for. Having recently parted ways with a Delver team more interested in pursuing their own legend than in escorting the caravan any further on their route, Bandle had put out an open call for aspiring Delvers shortly after arriving in Erin. Promising a modest wagon to get such a team started, Bandle was bound for the moving town of Litfield, itself a legendary caravan every Delver had to pass through if they were to build a reputation for themselves.
This is your chance - you and your friends have talked about becoming Delvers for a long time, and having a team already ready to go gave you an advantage over all the other Erinians vying for the job. Bandle has accepted your proposal, and you’ve now joined her caravan to follow your dreams and become great Delvers in your own right.
Welcome, friends, to Beast World.
Below are the few guidelines I’ve come up with for character creation.
- You all know each other, but how do you know each other?
- Who owes you a favor? Who do you owe a favor to?
- Who did you grow up with?
- Who have you worked with in the past? What did you do, and how did it end up?
I’d like an age range similar to our own - about 18 and older.
I’ll work with everyone on the system we’ll be using to ensure character creation is as easy as possible.
System Notes ((OOC))
The Fabula Ultima system is a four attribute system (Might, Dexterity, Insight, Willpower) that makes checks by rolling the dice from two stats and comparing them to a DC. Dice range from a d6 to a d12 in each attribute. The base DC for most checks in the game will be 10. A Hard check would be 13.
If you roll doubles, and the number is 6 or higher, you’ve scored a critical success! These will create Opportunities (pg 41) in addition to succeeding the check. Double 1s are considered a Fumble. If you fail a check, you may ask to Succeed At A Cost and present a possible cost to your success to negotiate with the DM (this cannot be applied to checks where you roll a Fumble).
Be sure to review the Invoke rules on pg 46, these will allow rerolls if they suit your character archetype! Similarly, if several members of the party would like to perform the same check, please review the Group Check rules on pg 50.
Character Creation: Fabula Ultima pg 154. For Origin, please use Erin, Allemance.
While this game-within-a-game will be the primary plot of the new story arc, threads in the 'Real World' may still be opened during this arc!
