Reson nodded at Metzli's affirmation, then verbally responded to Celeste, "I can only sense one soul... I don't know for sure if we'll find more, but this one is lingering." She joined in the removal of debris. "The mumbling is getting louder... so we're definitely in the right place."

"At least we can spot focus this, instead of digging randomly. Even if it is a little hair raising to think about 'mumbling souls'."
Robyn focused on the largest pieces of rubble she could safely move. Not to prove herself or show off, just simply because she was the largest physically, and it would help the others use their strength longer. Teamwork and efficiency!

Robyn would not get any talkback from Metzli, who appreciated having a physically strong person around to help. "We're here to help," she called to the voice, "just keep steady, we're almost to you! Uh, what's your name?"
It was best for people to stay conscious during injuries and ordeals, right? Some casual banter might help take their mind of the pain, or any fatigue they would be feeling.

Reson could hear the mumbling getting louder as they continued to move debris, “we’re definitely in the right place.” After a few more heavy pieces of debris were moved out of the way, Res heard a ‘pop’, like her ears reacting to a pressure change. The group felt a chill come over them.
A misty shape began to form over the debris, and it seemed to shift away from the others if they got too near it, like it didn’t want to be touched.
<<You’re not Wendy>>
((For the sake of not having to type everything thing out twice, we’ll say Res is relating everything she sees and hears to the group.))

Robyn didn't quite startle, but she did freeze and slowly ease back from the area as a chill settled over them. The presence was confirmed as Reson focused on an area and- bloody hell, it spoke. Or at least, Reson said it did.
She shivered, gaze narrowed as she tried to see if she could see where the thing was, but it just looked empty. She kept quiet, not sure if they could sppok a...spook, but figured it'd be better for Reson to take this.

Metzli did startle, dropping what she had picked up suddenly and helping as she staggered back.
"...ah... uh, Reson? I think... this is on you, y'know?" She looked over to Resonance, grimacing.
Celeste, who had shifted into a more battle-ready stance, stood straight once more upon realizing they were in no danger. Despite her abilities, communing with the deceased was not in her skill set, so she turned her head around to see if there were any more like wisps.

((Changing to <<>> for soul posts, Res will be normal.))
Res nodded to the group but added, "yeah so... from what little experience I have with this, souls can't always interact or sense the living world around them, but this one is reacting to your presences. They were moving away from you as you got close, so I think you can probably speak to them." Alright, this was what she came here to do so... guess it was time to see if she could help. She addressed the area in front of them, "yes, we're not Wendy. Sorry about that. Were you waiting for her?"
<<"Who are you? Go away, I don't have time to deal with people selling things. I've got to get ready for Wendy." Their voice was faint, but now that it was speaking more, the voice sounded deep. A Mobian shape was staring to take form as the soul began to move about, like it was pacing. The group would feel the cold spot shifting around them.>>

Yeah, this was way out of her purview. "Wendy? Great, we've got a lover boy who got crushed on date night." She said it lowly, more trying to lighten the mood than actually scorn a dead guy.

"Crushed physically, rather than emotionally... date went that bad, huh?" Metzli tried to join in, but her grimace of a smile and the few seconds it took her to give a shaky reply, it was clear that the whole "light joking with and about the dead person in front of you" wasn't really sticking.
"Does it help a deceased to see their body," Celeste asked uncharacteristically gently after a couple seconds of staring at Metzli and Robyn, only to turn fully to Reson, "or would that be too traumatic?"

<<“No no no, Wendy is my granddaughter. She visits me every week, she’ll be here soon. Go away…” The more he talked, the more solid his form appeared.>>
“I don’t know really… I guess sometimes it will. Won’t know unless we keep digging.” Res responded to Celeste. She hesitated a moment before speaking directly to the soul, “we’re here to help. Maybe we can clean this place up a bit more for you.”

Robyn knew what she'd done. She wasn't proud of it, but she wasn't ashamed of it either. This whole thing was creepy as shit, if making a poor joke half under her breath helped alleviate some tension, she'd do it again easily.
Her look did soften when Reson relayed it being a granddaughter instead. With a nod, she'd start shifting debris again, much more carefully this time rather than just tossing things aside.

Hey, Metzli got it, and Robyn would get no flak from her, she was just unused to seeing... well, the ghost of a dead person, whose body was mere feet away. But this was something she wanted to be here for -- needed to be here for. As Reson continued speaking, Metzli resumed her excavation. Now that she was sure someone was nearby, she could focus her shadow mapping to get a much smaller, but more accurate, picture of the shapes hidden around them, which would guide her as she shifted rubble.

<<He didn’t seem too fussed at the previous comments, especially as he continued speaking, moving the conversation right along. “Well… don’t make more of a mess. It’s important.” He stressed the last words and began pacing, coming more and more into focus as he did. Eventually Res could make out that he was an elderly hedgehog.>>
Res knelt down to help with a large chunk of debris, “of course, we’ll be careful. Why don’t you tell us about Wendy while we work?” She caught the others’ eyes as she could, with a slight nod of encouragement to ask questions.
<<“She’s such a nice young lady, about your age I think.”>>

"Hard to make more of a mess, here...." This one was said completely under her breath, just voicing her thoughts to herself.
When she noticed Reson catching their eye, she blinked, giving a hesitant look towards the empty rubble. "Uh, she sounds nice. What does she do?"

A 'Wendy--' with the granddaughter arriving from another location to be here, unless he was in a waiting area, she wouldn't be under the rubble. Perhaps it would be best to note that Wendy would not be arriving, but Celeste knew the stories of spirits remaining: that if they were annoyed, they would begin to haunt a place, usually becoming violent. That thought made Celeste pause in her work-- she hadn't considered that before.
"Granddaughter, huh? Pretty cool of her to come around and hang out with you, y'know? How old is she-- I'll guess, younger than me, about 12?"
